Digital stamps do have come with some limitations.
One of these limitations makes Embossing a little different and perhaps
for some a bit more tricky. Using a glossy paper such as photo paper and
acting quickly it is certainly possible to heat emboss Digital (Digi)
stamps.
By using a glossy paper and acting fast it is
possible to heat emboss digital stamps.
Heat Embossing has always been a popular technique
used by stampers which gives a shiny raised image adding a professional
finishing touch to many projects. Many think that Heat embossing digital
images provides a hand stamped look to the finished craft.
This is where one must work quickly as you know
embossing powders must be added when the ink is still wet and as printer
ink dries almost instantly on porous papers this process will only work on
non-porous or glossy printer paper, vellum or other shiny surfaces
Have your embossing powder ready with the top off and
as quickly as possible when the paper exits the printer sprinkle the
powder over the image. Gently tap off the excess and heat set with your
glue gun as usual.
Again for Embossing Digital Stamps you must do the
following:
Use glossy or any non-porous paper
Work Quickly
And do not get discouraged if your first attempt is not the best it does
get easier with practice.
An alternative way to add heat embossing to digital
stamp images is to use an embossing ink pen or any marker pen with a slow
drying ink. This pen can be used to draw around the outline of the printed
image or to fill in certain areas of your image that you want embossed.
I like to use an embossing pen that goes on blue and dries
to a clear finish so I can better see the area when sprinkling the
embossing powder. Again once should work quickly before the glue
dries if you are doing a large area perhaps sprinkling as you go would be
best.
